Resumé

Including students from Bachelor and Master degrees into the ongoing research activities represents a key role not only for building attractive and sustainable study programs for the future, but also eliminates the idea that high-class science and research for STEM-based subjects is dedicated only for established scientists and academics. This student’s inclusion is a great opportunity to dispel our stereotypes for the fact who is suitable candidate for STEM-focused career in science or industry, yet also enables students to be engaged in modern research and developing scientific methods. This project is focused towards the development of fundamental scientific skills and habits within the Bachelor and Master degrees. This ultimate objective of this proposal is based on creating a unique laboratory for research in the domain of fiber and integrated optics, with an overall impact on information-communication technologies, which are recognized as a basic pillar of modern society and knowledge-based economy. The fundamental tool for practical realization of this project proposal is project-oriented education, which interlinks ongoing research topic performed at the department and necessary basic theoretical knowledges within the profile education subjects. Selected research domains and topics for 1. and 2. university levels originate from the recent activities of the research group, which are advantageously solved and addressed together in a close international collaboration with institutes from Canada and France. Project implementation sets strong basis, which holds much promises to significantly support the growth of innovation potential in multiple fields of national economy and high-quality employment of university graduates.
